"It’s still rare to find women in engineering – and rarer still to discover a mother and daughter team. But Bechtel engineer Hayley Williamson, who began her career back in the 1980s, is looking forward to working alongside her 19-year-old daughter on one of Britain’s oldest nuclear sites.
Charlotte Williamson has begun a five-year apprenticeship at Sellafield and will join her mother for a spell on site in September. But the working culture Charlotte has entered differs enormously from that of the 1980s, when her mother had to justify her career choice to teachers. Hayley takes nothing for granted....
...She joined Bechtel last year – encouraged by the scope of a project to decommission nuclear waste."
